PRISON ISLAND

Prison island is also known as changuu or quarantine island it’s located 5.6 kilometers northwest of stone town. The island saw as a prison for enslaved people in 1860s. The British first minister of Zanzibar purchased the island in 1893 and constructed the prison. It became tortoise island with giant tortoise from Seychelles island.
